So lately, it feels like everyone has been traveling and getting in their beach time this summer. Everyone except for us, lol. So we decided to drive down to Houston and get in some sun at Stewart Park Beach in Galveston. Besides his ball, I think that the beach is the second thing that Arty loves most! He loves getting in the water and sunbathing in the sand. He was scared of the waves at first, but eventually learned how to jump over the little waves. It was seriously the cutest thing ever! This small getaway was a very much needed trip for all of us and we had the greatest time.

Okay, and I’m really sad because I didn’t get any photos of what we ate for dinner because it was seriously one of the best pizzas I’ve ever had! We ate at Bombay Pizza in downtown Houston, next to the Aloft we were staying at, and we ordered the Gateway to India pizza. It had tandoori chicken on top of provolone cheese, crab meat, artichoke hearts, mozzarella and cilantro-mint chutney. This pizza was featured on Food Network’s Best Thing I Ever Ate. It’s a MUST TRY when in Houston!

On Sunday, we started off the mid-morning at Blacksmith Coffee Shop with a small breakfast and a couple of lattes. There was already a small line reaching the door by the time we got there, so I guess it was a pretty popular spot in town. I really enjoyed their homemade biscuits! They were very soft, dense and tasted different from other biscuits I’ve had. It paired well with their jelly and creme fraiche spread.

I saw that Houston had quite a bit of murals around the city, but this one was at the top of my list! Conveniently, it’s also located on Wertheimer St, just a few blocks down from Blacksmith. I got there around 11:30 a.m. and was so thankful that there were no cars parked outside. We had it all to ourselves for photos! If you’re wondering, this is the mural in the parking lot a shop called Biscuit.

Honey Art Cafe is seriously the cutest cafe I’ve ever been to! Modern, bright and filled with so much color from the beautiful side murals. You can order coffee, lattes, boba tea and dessert. They offer weekly art classes and you can also book a private art event with your group of friends. I’m hoping to come back with some girlfriends to hang out here and make some art!

Thanks for stopping in! I hope you all get your pool or beach time in before summer is over. I’m hoping to get in one more visit before official Texas fall weather in October-November. I’ll see you next time!

Always,

Emily
